Asheville

Jeni and I celebrated our 5th anniversary this past weekend (a couple weeks early) with the golf tournament on Friday and an overnight trip to Asheville on Saturday night. We brought Kenz along for the ride as our first trip with her excluding visiting Cincinnati.

It wasn't the best weather, but we made the most of it. It wasn't too bad on Saturday, so we took Kenzie on her first hike. We went to Linville Falls off of the Blue Ridge Parkway at Milepost 316.4. It is a short hike at 0.8 out to the highest view point with a few overlooks along the way (each 500 ft. or so off the main path).

It was a little chilly so we bundled up in the Baby Bjorn and took off. We looked good.
She has a hat, two hoodies, her onesie, socks, baby bjorn, a blanket and then my jacket.

Linville Falls = very pretty

Then Kenzie was ready to go, so she told us a joke.
Okay guys, it's cold.
Q:  What did one shepherd say to the other shepherd?
A:   Let's get the flock outta here!
Afterward, we drove to Asheville and after a quick stop at the Lab Microbrewery (Lexington Ave. Brewery) for some food we made it to our hotel just in time to watch the Kentucky Derby. Kenzie put on her best Derby hat for the occasion.

If Kenzie had a horse, it would probably be named SmellsLikePuke or Nugget. We went to another good meal at The Southern on Saturday night with Kenzie sleeping through the entire meal. We tried to wake up the next morning to walk around the city, but the weather did not allow us to do so. We ended up driving to Tupelo Honey for breakfast even though it was only a couple blocks away. Unsurprisingly, all of the places we went had very good food since it's Asheville.

In case you are heading there, Tupelo Honey fills up quickly. It opened at 9 a.m. and we got there at 9:15 a.m. and got one of the last couple tables. Even in the pouring rain and wind, there were people waiting outside for it. You can see the line out of the door, behind these two shots of Jeni and Kenzie.

We were supposed to do a little more walking around and exploring the city as well as nearby Hendersonville, but wasn't in the cards this trip.

Hope everyone had a great weekend wherever you were.
